As well as your shiny engagement ring, your wedding dress is likely to need a few added touches of bling to complete the look and we’re here to help you pick the right ones. Jewellery is a nice way to incorporate your something old, something new or something borrowed but whichever one it is, you want to make sure it’s the right accessory for your dress.
The neckline, the fabric, the style, there are so many things to think about when deciding what kind of jewellery compliments your gown but today we’re going to make it a little easier for you. Keep on reading to find our top tips for picking the perfect jewellery to complete your bridal look.
Necklaces
If you’re wondering whether your look needs a necklace, this will solely depend on the neckline of your dress. If you’ve got a sweetheart neckline or any other neckline that is leaving your chest relatively exposed, this is the perfect opportunity to add a necklace.
If you’ve got a high neckline or even an illusion mesh neckline with a deep V-shaped plunge underneath, you don’t need a necklace as your dress is placing plenty of detail around your chest, a necklace would simply get lost or detract from the detail of your neckline.
Bracelets
Bracelets generally work for all wedding dresses and are a nice way to include your something old or borrowed and as a general rule, the only time a bracelet wouldn’t work is if your dress has long sleeves with a lot of detail at the cuff, on any other occasion, a bracelet would work beautifully.
If you have a lot of crystal detailing throughout the gown, a similar style bracelet would match perfectly but if your dress is more traditional with lots of lace, pearls may be a better compliment.
If you’re wearing a strapless dress with no sleeves, arm cuffs are a modern jewellery trend that are just stunning. Particularly well fitting with boho-style dresses, arm cuffs are a great way to add an extra touch of detail to your arms when you don’t have sleeves to do that for you.
Earrings
The earrings you choose will usually depend on how you’re having your hair, opposed to your dress in terms of the length and style but the material you choose for your earrings will usually coordinate with your dress.
Similarly to the bracelet you choose, if you’ve got diamantes and crystals in your dress, it’s nice to choose earrings of a similar style and the same applies for pearls, they compliment lace beautifully.
If your dress is strapless and has minimal details from the chest up, dangling or dramatic earrings are nice to draw attention to the top half of your look but if there’s a lot going on with the neck, shoulders and chest of your dress, studs let that detail do the talking.
Rings
You’re obviously going to be sporting your engagement ring down the aisle and you’ll be gaining another ring during the ceremony, so you may want to skip wearing any other rings unless they’re sentimental in which case, they’re always stunning additions to your look.
Be sure if you do wear any other rings, they tie in with the rest of your jewellery and aren’t on your ring finger on either hand as you’ll probably swap your engagement ring to the other hand during the ceremony.
